A month before my 40th birthday (2005), I finished a goal of running a marathon in all 50 States and DC under three hours. Like most of you, I have a regular job and a life outside of running. I was not a collegiate runner and only four of my 100+ marathons are faster than 2:50. In my 20s and early 30s, I had marginal sub 3:00 marathon success because I wasn't confident in my training and racing. Not until I combined consistent training patterns, proper workouts and smarter racing that I started running multiple sub 3 hour marathons. Training and racing marathons, at any speed, is hard work and time consuming. Start streamlining your efforts and become a smart, confident marathoner. And if you're not ready for a sub 3:00 marathon yet, start with Qualifying for Boston. Read up, lace up and enjoy! |
